ADNOC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Ideal Utilization of Oil Wealth

The Scholarship Department at Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) was established in 1974, illustrating the deep conviction of the late H.H. Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may Almighty Allah rest his soul in eternal peace and H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Supreme Petroleum Council, to use the oil wealth for the preparation of a well educated generation for a promising future.

The Scholarship Department’s mission is to educate, train and prepare UAE Nationals to take up leading positions in the oil and gas industry, as part of its commitment towards the process of Emiratization of jobs both for ADNOC Headquarters and ADNOC Group of Companies.

The Scholarship Program aims at providing both opportunity and assistance to UAE nationals to achieve their educational goals. We introduce students to the majors most required by ADNOC. Academically gifted UAE secondary graduates are offered the opportunity to follow undergraduate and postgraduate programs in engineering and applied sciences at some of the most reputable academic institutions around the world mainly in the USA, UK, Australia, Japan, and in the UAE.

The first graduating class of 10 students was in 1979. Between 1979 and 2008 the Scholarship Program produced more than 900 graduates. Today the Scholarship Department supervises more than 821 students. Many of the present Managers, Engineers and Supervisors in ADNOC and its Group Companies are graduates of the Scholarship Program.

ADNOC is proud to have invested in the education, training and development of UAE national staff for more than thirty years, thus enabling many of them to take their rightful place in the oil industry’s multinational workforce. The tangible results are an encouragement to provide even more interested nationals the opportunity to pursue their studies, with the aim of a stable income and a comfortable retirement ahead. ADNOC continues to improve and enhance its Scholarship Program in order to support the development of present and future generations of national employees in ADNOC and its Group of Companies.
